Dr Megan Hughes
Dr. Megan Hughes joined the Spring Branch Veterinary team in July 2015 and she purchased the hospital in July 2016. Dr. Hughes was born and raised in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. She received her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Vermont in 2004 and she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 2008.
Dr. Hughes moved to the San Antonio area in 2008. She currently lives in New Braunfels with her husband, Kris, who is a residential and commercial realtor in New Braunfels. They have 3 dogs: Frances, Harvey, and Ginger, 4 cats: Penelope, Teddy, Snickers, and Twinkie, 1 cow named Sparkles, 10 goats and 25 chickens. In her spare time Dr. Hughes enjoys spending time with her husband and pets, horseback riding, gardening, jogging, and traveling. She also serves on the board of directors at the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area where she volunteers weekly to provide veterinary care for homeless pets. Dr. Hughes is passionate about assisting local animal shelters and rescues care for animals in need, as well as spay/neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of homeless pets. Dr. Hughes as well as the entire team at Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital, is committed to providing nothing less than the gold standard of veterinary medicine to all of our patients. Her goal is for pets to live healthier, happier, and longer lives with their families.
Drs Robert & Virginia Nell Duncan
Doctors Robert and Virginia Nell Duncan owned Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital from 2007 until 2016. Although they are no longer practice owners, they are still a huge part of the team and are very dedicated to the practice as well as their patients. They strongly believe that open communication, practicality, and attention to detail are vital to the client-veterinary relationship. They also understand and appreciate that each family has a set of guidelines and expectations that are unique to them.
Dr. Virginia Nell Duncan is a native San Antonian while Dr. Robert Duncan grew up in Gainesville, TX. When they are not caring for their patients, they are caring for their family of four boys. They have a “permanent” dog, “Trudy” in addition to foster pets which come and go on a routine basis. Helping pets find their forever home is an endeavor in which the entire family gets much satisfaction! They are strong supporters of pet adoption and fostering, and they are regular participants in SNIPSA (Spay-Inject-Protect-of San Antonio) events. Additionally, Dr. Virginia Nell Duncan has served on the board of directors of the San Antonio Zoo for the past 7 years and on the executive board for the past 2 years . The Duncans believe in the zoo’s mission to foster appreciation and concern for all living things.
Lead LVT Veterinary Technician – Michelle
Michelle joined our practice in May 2015 and was promoted to the Lead Veterinary Technician in June 2016. She comes to us with seven years experience as a licensed veterinary technician. In 2007, she graduated from Michigan State University earning her Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Veterinary Technology. She practiced near her home town of Clarkston Michigan for two years before moving to central Illinois. There she worked in a mixed animal practice for 5 years before relocating to Texas. Michelle currently resides in San Antonio with her boyfriend, Marcus, and their crazy cat, Sheldon. In her free time, Michelle enjoys running, spending time at the pool, and traveling back home to spend time with her family and friends. She is excited to live as a “Texan” and loves getting to know our clients and their furry children.
Office Manager – Gayle
Gayle joined our practice in April of 2011 as a Customer Care Specialist and was promoted to the Office Manager position in June of 2016. She came to us with over 20 years of veterinary front office experience. Gayle always welcomes our clients and patients with comfort and care. She currently resides in the New Braunfels area with her husband, Ed and their 2 dogs, Spencer and Violet Rose as well as her three cats, Horatio, Humphrey and Callie.
Senior Veterinary Technician – Sabrina
Sabrina is one of our Veterinary Technicians and has been with Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital since May 2005. She started here at Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital as a Pet Care Attendant moving to the position of Veterinary Technicians as she grew in her skills and knowledge. Her love and compassion for animals and their families is what has kept Sabrina at Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital for so long. She currently lives in Spring Branch with her 4-legged family four dogs, Jager, Lil’ Boo, Duke, Spinner and her cat, Betty Boop.
Veterinary Technician – Rebecca
Rebecca has been with Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital since May 2013 and started out as one of our pet care attendants and is currently in training as a veterinary technician. Rebecca loves her job because she enjoys caring for and getting to know the pets and enjoys expanding her knowledge in the veterinary field. In her spare time, she enjoys time with her own pets, a Dachshund named Maggie, a Shepherd mix named Nena and a terrier mix named Penny.
Customer Care Specialist – Sandra
Sandra (Sandy) is one of our Customer Care Specialist and has been with Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital since August 2011. She was raised in the mountains of Virginia where she spent time on her grandparents’ farm. She transferred to Houston, Texas several years ago for her position with Texaco Research. After many years in accounting, she decided to follow her roots and her love of animals which brought her to Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital. Now she feels that she’s down home on the farm again getting to know our clients and their pets.
Customer Care Specialist – Carrie
Carrie is one of our Customer Care Specialist and has been with Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital since October 2010 and a client since 2000. Carrie is pictured with 2 of her 6 dogs, Bonnie & Clyde. They were her first 2 foster dog failures. Carrie jokes that her foster mom ‘stats’ are still good though because she has only kept 4 out the over 30 dogs that she and her husband, Jim have fostered. Rounding out her 4-legged family is Bell, Bosco, Chica & Maggie.
Customer Care Specialist – Lanie
Lanie is one of our Customer Care Specialist and has been with Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital since April 2011. She comes to us with over 28 years’ front office experience working in the dental field. She enjoys getting to know our clients and their 4-legged family.
Lanie was raised in Denver Colorado and moved to Texas in 1993. She currently lives in Spring Branch with her husband, Lyle and their 4 dogs, Sir Lord Sydney, Noelani, a rescue from Hurricane Katrina, Indy and Frankie O Blue Eyes. They also have a cat named Kiki. Lanie and her husband enjoy traveling and fishing in their spare time.
Veterinary Technician – Sarah
Sarah joined the practice in July 2016 as a Veterinary technician. Sarah comes to us with over 5 years of veterinary technician experience. Sarah was born and raised in Guadalupe county. She currently resides in New Braunfels with her husband Chris and their four legged children Gemma, Luna, Zombi and Manu. We are very lucky to have her as part of the Spring Branch team and we are looking forward to our clients and patients getting to know her better.
Veterinary Technician – Taylore
Taylore joined the practice as a pet care attendant in 2015 and was promoted to a veterinary technician in October of 2016. Taylore has lived in the San Antonio Area since 2007. She graduated from Southwestern University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Taylore has four rescue dogs: Parker, Buttercups, Presley, and Pumpkin. She plans to continue her career by going to veterinary school.
Pet Care Attendant – Reba
Reba joined the practice in May 2016 and is one of our Pet Care Attendants. Reba plans to continue her career by becoming a veterinary technician. Reba looks forward to getting to know and care for your pets.
Pet Care Attendant – Maria
Maria joined the practice in October 2016 as one of our Pet Care Attendants. Maria grew up in a military family and settled in San Antonio with her husband Mike. Maria has dogs, bearded dragons, a snake, a cat, chickens, goats, and horses. She pans to become either a veterinary technician or a veterinarian. Maria looks forward to getting to know your furry family members.
Groomer – Lisa
Lisa has been professionally grooming at Spring Branch Veterinary Hospital since 2003. She was born and raised here, in Spring Branch, TX. Having always been around many pets, she is sure to develop a comfortable and natural relationship with your four-legged family members.
